Lead Machine Learning Engineer

We are a data science Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform specializing in forecasting for wind and solar farms. Our solutions combine advanced machine learning models, robust data engineering practices, and scalable infrastructure — primarily leveraging Azure Databricks and Kubernetes.

Role Overview:

As our Senior Machine Learning Engineer and Infrastructure Team Lead, you will lead our infrastructure and model-serving initiatives, provide technical leadership, and manage a multidisciplinary team of data engineers, DevOps specialists, and machine learning engineers. You will be responsible for orchestrating complex ML workflows, optimizing model deployments, and fostering agile practices within the team.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the infrastructure and engineering team, implementing and optimizing machine learning model-serving architectures.

  • Oversee the orchestration of ML pipelines and inference workflows.

  • Drive agile methodologies, such as Scrum, to ensure team alignment and productivity.

  • Collaborate with DevOps and Data Engineers to optimize infrastructure, streamline data pipelines, and improve performance and scalability.

  • Mentor junior team members, offering guidance and support for their professional growth and development.
Essential Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or Data Engineer.

  • Extensive experience in MLOps best practices, particularly with MLflow.

  • Proven ability to lead and manage complex technical teams using agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum or equivalent).

  • Expertise in cloud environments, with a preference for Azure, and familiarity with AWS.

  • Strong knowledge of orchestration frameworks, such as Dagster, Airflow, or Prefect.

  • Solid understanding of cost optimization and resource management in cloud environments.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.

  • Familiarity with Databricks, including environment optimization and integration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments.

  • Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance standards.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Understanding of Kubernetes-based machine learning orchestration.

  • Relevant professional certifications in cloud or machine learning technologies.
